Odigós - The facilitator's guide

I had been planning this booklet since last year, ever since I launched Thálassa during Zine Month 2022. Unfortunately, various personal events have so far prevented me from supporting the game as I would have liked, first with a guide for odigói and then with the publication of adventure modules. I am announcing that the first official module for Thálassa entitled “The Lost Trident” is on its way.

But let us come to this “guide for guides,” namely the Odigós. In it I provide some suggestions, hopefully extensive enough, on how to prepare and conduct your adventures in Thálassa. I realize that knowledge of Greek myths is less widespread outside my cultural context than I thought when I drafted the game.

Here is what you will find:

  • Finding inspiration: how to read, adapt and rework Greek myths for your game. How to study mythological bestiaries. How to read the map to inspire your adventure locations.
  • Outlining Adventures: some tips on how to outline your adventure
  • Adventure Sites: tips on how to create sites to explore
  • Sandbox Campaigns: the main vocation of Thálassa. Here I suggest how to build one.
  • Appendices:
    • Random quest generation tables, mythological themes and locations, hooks and encounters.
    • A timeline of Hesiod’s five mythical eras for placing your adventures

I hope it can be really helpful to you!

And get ready because I hope to update you soon with two big news about Thálassa
