Breaking Point
A downloadable game
Power is never held. It is contested, eroded, and reasserted — scene by scene, resource by resource, until something gives.
Breaking Point is a solo strategic roleplaying game. You play the mind behind a faction — a military junta consolidating control after a coup, an insurgent network pressing toward an impossible goal, a trade consortium maneuvering between powers too large to fight directly. There is no game master, no other players. You build the world, populate it with rival factions driven by their own agendas, and play against the system you have constructed.
Rivals activate, escalate, and collide with your plans whether you are ready or not. You probe for openings, commit to decisive moves, and absorb the cost when things go wrong. The game ends when your faction achieves its goal — or finds out where its actual limits are.
What you need: a standard set of polyhedral dice (d4–d12), something to track resource boxes, a notebook. Sessions run 60–90 minutes.
This product includes the core rules and four ready-to-play scenario supplements:
- The Asteroid Belt Gold Rush — A leaked survey confirms ice reserves worth fifty years of Martian terraforming. Four factions race to establish facts on the ground before anyone else can. Near-future sci-fi.
- Rise of the East India Company — The Portuguese license has lapsed. Emperor Jahangir will issue a single new farman governing all foreign trade in forty days. Three factions are running operations they cannot afford to have attributed to them. Historical fiction, 17th-century Mughal India.
- The Expiring Treaty — The Compact of Veranthas expires in forty days. All five powers have arrived saying "renewal." Not one of them means it. Features a Hard Clock: for eight scenes, Veranthas is neutral ground. After Scene 8, everything changes at once. Secondary-world fantasy.
- The Shattered Sea — A merfolk sovereignty claim threatens to make every surface-power agreement over the world's only inter-continental trade route retroactively void. Three days until the hearing. Includes the Drowned Choir, a faction that wins by letting everyone else bleed. Maritime fantasy.
